Siding Companies Pittsburgh: How We Work

Work van parked beside a house during a siding job
On site for a re-side in an older neighborhood

Good siding work is mostly about what you don't see: the wrap, the flashing and the boards underneath. That's where we start on every house.

  • We look before we price. Soft spots, stains and old flashing come up before color does.
  • Quotes line by line. Material, trim, tear-off and wall repairs are listed separately, so you can compare them with other bids.
  • We bring up permits. Including historic district review when the house needs it.
  • We finish with a walk-around. You see the finished walls with us before we leave.

See everything we do on our local siding contractor home page.

From First Call to Finished Walls

Every job, small or large, follows the same path.

  1. 01

    You call

Tell us what you're seeing and roughly how big the house is.

  2. 02

    We visit

We look at the problem area and the walls around it, including the ones you didn't mention.

  3. 03

    You get a quote

Each part of the job is priced separately, with how hidden damage is handled spelled out.

  4. 04

    We do the work

Old siding off where needed, walls repaired, wrap and flashing, then siding and trim.

Working on Pittsburgh Houses

Before and after: buckled panels replaced near the foundation

Houses here bring a particular set of jobs. Many are older than vinyl itself, built on slopes, with porches, dormers and trim details later re-sides covered up.

  • Steep lots and tall back walls. Staging and ladder setups are planned before the job is priced, not discovered on day one.
  • Layers from earlier re-sides. We expect to find old wood or aluminum underneath and plan the quote around it.
  • Historic districts. Work on homes in a city historic district waits for Historic Review Commission approval.

Before Work Starts

A few things make the job go smoothly on your end:

  • Clear the walls. Move patio furniture, grills and planters a few feet away from the house.
  • Think about parking. On narrow or steep streets, room for a truck and a material drop near the house helps.
  • Take down wall items. Pictures and shelves on outside walls can shake loose during tear-off.
  • Plan for pets and kids. Ladders and staging go up all around the house while work is underway.

If something about the house worries you, like a soft spot or an old leak, point it out at the first visit so it's in the quote.

Questions Worth Asking Any Company

What Happens if There's Rot?

Ask whether rotted sheathing is priced per board or per sheet.

Is Trim in the Price?

Soffit, fascia and corner trim are often left off cheaper bids.

Who Installs It?

Ask whether their own crew or a subcontractor does the work.

What's the Schedule?

Ask when work starts and how long it runs.

About Working With Us

What areas do you cover?

Pittsburgh and nearby communities in Allegheny County.

Do you handle small jobs?

Yes. A few cracked panels get the same look at the wall behind them as a full re-side.

Do I need to be home for the visit?

It helps, so you can point out what you've noticed, but exterior-only visits can work too.

How do we get started?

Call (412) 830-0567 and we'll set up a time to see the house.
